Interim Break Takes the Cake

January 31st, 2006 by lindsay | 1 Comment | Filed in General

WooT! Interim break was great and just what I needed after a real stressful and tiring interim. I mean, a weekend with my two best friends and some time with the fam…Who could ask for anything better???

I had such a wonderful time in GR and I wish I could have stayed for longer. Shelly and I had some great adventures and it was so nice to catch up and connect again. Catie got to do some catching up of her own and enjoyed her time as well.  Like I said.. who can ask for anything better than some quality time with the BFFs.

I managed to step foot on 7 college campuses in one week’s time: Bethel, Luther Sem, Wheaton, Cornerstone, Calvin, Marquette, CLC.

I also managed to get a really painful ear infection. A little Otitis Media for all you science nerds.

January 23rd, 2006 by lindsay | No Comments | Filed in General

If you want to read my paper… just ask me. I had it in a pdf but I realized that wasnt the most conducive to editing.

Nothing brings a smile to my face like an afternoon without CNA class and some Ben Folds.

i’ve turned into one of those kids who wears scarfs all the time
Its cold days like these that kinda make me miss this..

Calling all literate people..

January 20th, 2006 by lindsay | 1 Comment | Filed in General

I have an exegesis paper due on tuesday and my teacher is extremely focused on grammar and good writing. I just got a rough draft back and was overwhelmed by the amount of cross-outs, arrows, and question marks littering the page. As you can tell by reviewing past entries, writing is not one of my strengths. So, using the new technology provided in latest version of wordpress, I will upload the paper to my site and you can download it. All ye who are literate are welcome to download this paper and critique the crap out of it and email it back to me @ lindsay@lindsaym.com. If you do it, I will personally write you a note of thanks on this website (which I believe is frequented by millions of people daily). So with that tantalizing bribe, get your editing pencils ready and wait patiently for the file to be uploaded. I am hoping it will be done by Saturday night.

Just a side note, my clinical yesterday went really well. I totally don’t want to be a nursing home nurse but I feel very affirmed of my calling to the nursing field in general. I just really love people and I love serving through medical care.I wish I could express what my heart feels, but I can’t. I mean, I am just a peon as far as nurses are concerned, but CNAs get to do so much one-on-one patient care, it’s unbelievable. It is hard and definitely dirty work but it is exactly what I want to do. I will probably miss all this patient interaction when I move up the ladder to an RN and I have to more to do.

Wonderful moment of the day: I was waiting with one woman in the bathroom for another CNA to grab something for us and I knelt down next to her and I said “thank you for being so patient with us today”. We had been so clumsy and so clueless with her and she doesn’t talk a lot so I was afraid she was getting upset. But, in a very quiet, sweet little voice she opens up her eyes real wide and says “no, thanks for being patient with us”. I almost cried. This woman hadn’t said more than 2 words to me in response to my questions and the only whole sentences she said to me the whole day were that one and “please leave me alone” when we had to turn her in the middle of her sleep. I think I’ll choose to remember her by the moment in the bathroom though :)

I thought this was funny.

Clinicals start in 30 minutes.

My pants are so flarey! I hate wearing all white though.

Coincidentaly, my roommate Shelly had a medical emergency I was able to tend to.

I look like a dinosaur in this picture. Ya know, one of those herbavore dinasaurs with weird necks. What you don’t see in this picture is me chewing on some leaves using a circular chewing pattern.
The internet is back!
